Back in Northern Virginia

Watching Planes on Approach to Reagan National

Almost two months ago I returned to the U.S. after a tad over four years in Hanoi, Vietnam. I feel fairly sure in saying that was the last of my moves to Vietnam. After over 28 years of my life in Vietnam and another four in Okinawa, Japan, I have no real inclination to do more overseas time.

Though part of me wishes I had returned a month or two earlier to enjoy the autumn weather, I did manage to get back in time for some very nice days before the weather got a little more brisk than I feel comfortable in. I have no doubt I will get used to it.

The good news is that our return to Northern Virginia this time was less stressful than last. We didn't have to worry about buying a house or a car.  We have been getting reacquainted with the area and we have gone to Gravelly Point more than a couple of times already. Both Diep and I really enjoy seeing the planes come in when the winds have them approach from the north of Reagan National.  It is a very simple pleasure, but I enjoy it more than I probably should.
